Schools across Scotland, including some in Glasgow, were disrupted on Monday after receiving threatening emails that police are treating as a hoax.
The messages arrived on the morning of 19 October. Some schools carried out precautionary evacuations, with pupils and staff in Glasgow moved outside for a time before being allowed back in.
Police Scotland said it was aware of threatening messages sent to a number of schools, that they were being treated as a hoax, and that officers were investigating where they came from.
Glasgow City Council confirmed the evacuations. Its executive director of education services, John McGhee, wrote to families to explain the steps taken and said the safety of pupils and staff was the top priority.
The Scottish Government said it was aware of messages sent to schools in Scotland and elsewhere in the UK.
Neighbouring councils reported similar emails. East Renfrewshire said many of its primary and secondary schools were targeted but were operating as normal after police judged the threat not credible. East Dunbartonshire said it was following police advice, West Dunbartonshire said all its schools and nurseries stayed open, and North Lanarkshire said none of its schools were evacuated.
